Story behind a Champion

In the fall of 2008, we consigned a Hereford heifer to the Focus on the Female Sale in Anita, Iowa.  Not only was she the only Hereford in the sale, she was the first ever in that sale.  To say the least, the deck was stacked against her.  Luckily more than one person was able to find her and she ended up being the second high seller. That heifer went on to be a many-time champion for the Hanson family and was selected Grand Champion Polled Female in the Iowa State Fair.  Below are a few pictures of her success along the way!

Getting this up and running has been a goal of mine for a while now.  I've been wanting a way to bring attention to our small cattle operation and it seems that a blog is the way to do it.  Although we are small in numbers, we've been successful.  Not only have we raised the Iowa State Fair Champion Hereford female, but we've produced high quality breeding stock that has produced consistently for our customers.  Stay tuned for more updates on our program with past successes as well as a look to our future!
